i wanted to do something small-ish after my group art show. i am a regular at this awesome place called Früte Cafe , which dishes out fruit based sandwiches and blends. fave is their chix melts/watermelon juice combo! :) anyways, i chatted with sebastian, the owner seen above, to hijack the cafe's two white walls to hang some of my artworks. he was cool with it, even though he doesn't appreciate much of the abstract works i do! ... lol... that's how great he is! he likes my earlier works at NAFA which are more representational.
yesterday, i finally got to hang 4 sets of diptychs with the help of my wife and of course sebastian. boy, was it hard without the help of professional 'hangers' that we have the luxury during the group art show. but we did ok I must say.... :) check this out for more details. thanks sebastian!
the diptychs were a continuation of the OHP transparency/ PVC based works i showed earlier. but this time, i was able to present how i felt it should be - as a series of diptych. the process was important to highlight and the nuances of the resulting images. i crafted the artist statement (*cringe) to record the thinking behind. artworks on show here but always best IRL, methinks.
side note: ha! when i unwrapping these.... sebastian finally said that he really liked the Corpus/ Spiritus set! won him over in the end... not bad 1 out of 6 (got extra 2 diptychs which didn't hang anymore). come, come... visit the place if you are nearby. lunch together...? drop me a note pls.
