:: damien hirst - why and how? ::

to paraphrase what i read earlier, be more interested in the artist and not the art, that is, if you want to be one.  can't recall where and who but it lingers.

damien hirst shows in tate for a mid career retrospective. i find him a good study in understanding the mind, magic and motivation of a modern artist.  he is both polarising and enigmatic with the choices he has made - specifically on how he has done and why he does art. 

here's a nod to his showmanship, not necessarily to the body of work at display.  modern day snakes oil salesmen. love 'em!
